Late summer is the start of a full travel schedule for the Swirly Girls. The featured quilts for our 2013 Michael Miller Clubhouse program are finished, along with the 12 bonus projects, so it’s time to hit the road, visit quilt shops and preview Poppy Love before the official launch at Quilt Market in October.
Last Saturday we drove 2 hours north to Kelly Ann’s Quilting in Warrenton, Virginia. Kelly Ann was the first to carry the Swirly Girls Design patterns (after Susan’s own shop), so we try to get to her shop early in our travels! You never know what sweet quilt will be calling to you at her front door:
I’d have to say the response was pretty evenly split on colorway choice – the blues and yellows of our Vibrant quilt and the aqua/red/black in our Vintage quilt are both beautiful. Here’s a shot of the Vintage quilt:
Keep tuned for one of Vibrant!
We also showed quilts using our new Creative Grids Circle Savvy Ruler, including the just released “Behind the Scenes” pattern. This is a great quilt to feature novelty/directional/large prints. The baby quilt is so fun, and the batik version is beautiful!
If you ever have the chance to visit Warrenton, be sure to stop downtown. Stop first at Kelly Ann’s lovely quilt shop – she has a great fabric selection and such cute details throughout her shop!
Then cross the street and visit The Red Thread, a yarn shop for all you knitters. And the out-of-this-world bakery, Great Harvest is on the corner. (OK, we confess, their Maple-Bacon bread has made the trip home with us). If you’re coveting Annie Sloan Chalk Paint, you can get it from Janet Metzger at The Empty Nest, just down the block. There’s a Farmer’s Market on Saturday mornings, too, so you can stock up on local produce.
Stay tuned – more road trips are coming up, along with more shots of the 2013 Clubhouse projects!

Thanks for your speedy reply. I’m so looking forward to getting this pattern. Happy quilting!
When will the clubhouse quilt pattern be available? Love the vibrant color way. Really sings to me.
